5 weeks notice - tajikistan

I was given the news that an agreement had been made between IMMAF and the Tajikistan Mixed Martial Art Federation for Tajikistan to host the IMMAF Asian Champions.

The fun part. Being informed that we have only 5 weeks to put this together!

From my side we had to quickly establish an organisational relationship with the host federation and swiftly put plans into place. Let that sink in. 5 weeks to plan and execute where normally we have lead times of at least 6 to 12 months. This was coupled with being on site in Italy delivering the IMMAF European Championships when the news broke.

Many layers of operational processes needed to be figured out under extreme pressure. The team had no choice but to pivot and dig deep into the “can do” attitude to see this through.

The immediate action was to produce a tournament handbook and syndicate to IMMAF’s affiliated members in the Asian region. Once we had an idea of the scope of participants that could immobilise, only then realistically in the context of operational planning would we know what we would be up against.

Thankfully a successful and safe event materialised with over 500 guests and participants from over 20 countries embraced the warmth of  the Tajikistan people.

The below video highlight will speak volumes more than any words I could attempt to articulate.

Thank you to my colleagues at IMMAF and the wonderful people within the Tajikistan MMA federation. We did it!
